The right tool for the wind

I bought the 9 wt outfit when my back up rod (a different brand) snapped the week before a trip to the Bahamas for bonefish. I planned to use it as a back up to my 8wt Cobalt rod/Remix reel. The weather was less than ideal with 15-25 mph winds for the whole week and rain. The stiffer action of the Liquid Max rod and the 9 wt of the line helped my casting enormously. The reel held up like a champ too, smoothly managing bonefish of up to 5lbs with 10lb tippet. Back in Florida, I am looking forward to tackling smaller tarpon and snook with the outfit.

This is my 3rd full Lamson rod & reel set up. Plus my previous 3 rods have Lamson reels on them. I fully expected a nice kit for the price but wow was I blown away by the quality of this kit. So much so I immediately ordered a 2nd spool. I have the 8wt for salmon & steelhead, 1 spool set up with RIO WF8F and the second with Rio specialty 8wt streamer sinking tip when I need to get deeper. Thank you Lamson for producing excellent products us Idahoans can be proud to own and brag about!

8 wt Liquid Max Outfit combo

Used it on the Egegik River for Silver Salmon in late August, handled 8 to 13 pound salmon with ease. Pretty windy at times and the fast rod made it a little more easy to cast not much because the wind was blowing hard.
