VANITAS | Eau de Parfum - yesterday's fruit under flickering candlelight

Comfortable and deeply familiar

The description of this scent is wonderfully accurate… I have to admit I put off buying it due to the overripe fruit notes and although I don’t care much for the top notes they fade swiftly enough and the dry down is mesmerizing! It smells like a cozy wooden cottage full of old books with a fire burning in the hearth. Reminds me of summers as a child.. paints and pencil crayons scattered about, making candles from melted wax crayons. The subtlety of the scent only adds to the feeling of familiarity, the sillage is practically non existent, this is one worn for you. Like being lost in a memory you wish you could share.

Unique Fruitiness

I mean unique in a good way! As someone with no perfume vocabulary, it starts off with a very sweet fruitiness, but more warm instead of bright. I think "jammy" would probably be appropriate. If I had to guess at prominent fruits: grape and apricot? Dries down to something warmer with a bit of spice and waxiness (appropriate to the namesake and notes paragraph, I suppose). Cozy but atypical. Definitely feels like something I'd reach for mid-winter. Quite extroverted in that I normally wear things that sit close to the skin and could be mistaken for byproducts of existing (greens like tomato leaf, woods, leathers) rather than anything intentionally perfumey. I did, however, end up with a bit sprayed on my sleeve and had my nose attached to it for half the day like an overgrown hairless beagle, so it does smell delightful and I absolutely will be wearing it quite often.

Smells like a poets desk

It has depth, nuance, and feels like a memory of a place you think you've been because you've seen it in a painting. And, uh, it smells really good.
