First season used, works well.
The lettuce harvester is well thought out. It worked well though my first season trying it. It definitely works best with spring mixes.
The Positives: Makes harvesting spring mixes quickly. The lettuce tended to look really good. The harvester was well designed and held up to usage.
The Difficulties: Harvest basket fills up fast, and tends to clump at front, needing a pull back technique to fully fill in the harvest basket, and tends to spit material back out if you get the basket too full. Also, found that emptying the harvest basket to my buckets took some practice as my containers were not large enough. The trigger setup for the extension was occasionally a bit finicky.
The negatives: Foam handles rub off onto my hands, leaving them black afterwards. I also bought the riser attachment, and at first the tolerances were a bit too tight to place the attachment to the harvester together with the riser, so I had to file it to fit. It does save time on the larger harvests, but the cost would not be justified for small scale. For my smaller harvests, I find a knife is faster, as I don't need to lug a larger tool around with me. Customer service was very good.

Helpful!!
Super helpful tool. I have the first model greens harvester and years later it’s still great. Just ordered the extension handle and this woman isn’t used to putting things together. When I got stuck and needed some support they went above and beyond to help me out. Much appreciated!!

Thumbs down
Unless you are a bike mechanic, anything involving a bicycle hand break is never going to be simple to install. In fact, we gave up. The extension arm manages to be over built and clunky while simultaneously requiring a delicate, yet precise finesse in order to achieve the adequate tension in the trigger mechanism. It is incredibly frustrating to install and the overall design very much feels like an afterthought. We hope to return ours.
