A different spin on tape emulation.

Baby Audio's TAIP is an AI driven emulation of tape not based on any particular tape machine. It instead reproduces the vibe of tape with saturation, compression, and eq characteristics. There is plenty of room for experimentation to get a unique sound going without getting bogged down with too many controls. I'd use this mostly on individual tracks to impart some major mojo. Other plugins emulating particular machines my be better suited for the mixbus and mastering, but it might be worth an AB even in that application. Download the free trial and give it spin.

I tried not to like Taip, as I'm generally biased against AI-hype and to some extent, AI in general... but then I tried it. It's not really like any other tape sim plugin I have (and I have quite a few) - it's more of a lofi saturator combo that's kind of one big sweet spot! It's kind of refreshing how cavalier it is about being different, neither trying to look nor sound like a particular sought-after vintage unit but rather just doing its own thing, and I have to admit it's a pretty nice thing which I'll probably use a fair bit. Not if I want subtle, barely-there tape-i-ness, but more as a rather delicious flavour of lofi saturation.
