A good read.
Another really good book on one of my favourite tanks from World War 2. Full of detail with alot of good photographs. If you like the Matilda mk2 tank then this is the book for you.

Tank Museum Guide to the Matilda
Chapter 1, the history of British tanks through the Infantry tank concept to design and development was good. Technical information still missed the turret ring diameter though. The number of tanks sent to Australia is conflicted between pages 51 and 80, with 409 being the consensus in Australia. Ammunition was not well covered, no mention of the Australian Cannister shell, a picture of the ammunition types would be useful. There were 2 Marks of Matilda Dozer one mechanical and the other hydraulic. Not all Australian Matilda's were dumped/destroyed at wars end, many were returned to Australia, the recently rebuilt ACE being one. The picture series on page 111 shows Matilda smoke dischargers in Australia not the Western Desert. The rear deck protection varied between Regiments due to materials available. No mention of the Matilda being used on Crete in chapter 4. A pity there are a number of errors, however the volume is the best Matilda reference availble.
