Incredible Sheets, but Tear Quickly
This is a difficult review to post, because these sheets are far and away the best quality bedding I have ever had. They are incredibly soft and have great color and pattern swatches. However, I have experienced consistent wear and tear issues with them.
I originally purchased a full Bed Bundle about 5 years ago. After about 18-24 months of normal everyday use, both the sheets and pillowcases wore thin and eventually ripped. I maintained the bedding according to The Citizenry's care instructions using new, clean laundry machines. By the time they ripped, the sheets were out of warranty. The Citizenry did not replace the sheets but provided a small gift card to ease the pill of purchasing a new full set.
After another 18 months the new set has now begun to thin and tear. My wife and I take great care of the things in our home and were disappointed to see the second set go the same way as the first.
As much as I would like to recommend this bedding, I will not be purchasing another set. Fool me twice, as they say. I really wanted to be a lifer for these sheets. They are amazing. They kept us cool in hot humid summers and warm in freezing winters. They only got softer the more I cared for and used them, and I truly thought I had found everyday luxury. I'll give them two stars for the linen quality and softness, but can't justify $600+ every year or two to replace them. If you can, then these sheets are for you!

Worst experience
I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with The Citizenry was frustrating from start to finish.
My order took over two months to arrive. After waiting more than a month with no product or update, I contacted customer service to cancel my order because I no longer needed it. I was told it was “too late” to cancel even though it hadn’t arrived after weeks of waiting. Instead of working with me, they shipped it anyway, leaving me responsible for the hassle of driving to return it. I wasted my time, energy, and gas because of a situation that could have easily been avoided.
To make matters worse, once I looked more closely at the product, I wasn’t impressed with the quality relative to the premium price. The linen is under 180 GSM, which is on the lighter side and generally less durable than heavier-weight linen. It’s also stone-washed, which creates a softer feel but can reduce the fabric’s longevity by breaking down fibers during the finishing process. For something marketed as heirloom-quality luxury linen, I expected a heavier, more durable fabric.
I was also disappointed by the lack of transparency around sourcing. The company emphasizes craftsmanship but doesn’t clearly explain where the flax is grown or processed. Many of the highest-regarded linen products come from Belgian or neighboring European flax, where long-staple fibers are known for producing exceptionally durable fabric. Without that level of transparency, it’s hard to justify the premium pricing.
Overall, I paid luxury prices for a product that took over two months to arrive, couldn’t be canceled despite the delay, and then required me to spend additional time and money returning it. Between the poor customer service, lack of flexibility, and underwhelming quality, I won’t be ordering from The Citizenry again.
