I own a cd version of this album but, needless to say, the sound on the HDTT album is far superior. This DSD256 transfer is surely the best sounding mono album that i can imagine owning. No need to hunt down your own preferred version on any media of this album anymore.

Colossal Disc

This is another example of a great recording by Rudy Van Gelder in 1956. It is an excellent example of how Rollins is an architect of the saxophone solo. It features mainstream tunes like Moritat (Mack the Knife) and introduces his Calypso style with St Thomas. Max Roach has his typical melodic drumming. I have heard other reissues like Acoustic Sounds, but this DSD is the best of the bunch.
