It definitely magnifies stuff.

Great way to make fire on sunny days without using up other resources. It's also handy for reading my map if I forget my glasses. Just don't use it to read a map in direct sunlight. Awesome piece of gear. Well made. Actual glass, not plastic.

Magnifying Lens

The item is a little bit smaller than what I expected (even though I was aware of the dimensions), but it serves its purpose. Because of the thickness of the glass, it seems to be quality material; however, I won't know unless I accidently drop it on concrete or a hard surface like that. It comes with a nice little leather-like bag to protect it from scratches. Overall, it is a nice purchase and one of those "better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it."
