Aldarra is a bit of a novelty game. It’s scale and detailed models make it an impressive addition to any collection. That being said it is not the kind of game one keeps as set dressing for their game room. Unlike it’s equivalently scaled contemporaries Aldarra finds itself in the comfortable position of being relatively easy to pick up while offering a depth not often seen with a game as straightforward. As a result the time to play while still a considerable amount is not so weekend swallowing as Twilight Imperium. Though the two scratch different niches and a 4X war game with factions and units as uniquely crafted as this is often rare to see. Typically miniatures of this quality and variety are squarely within the realms of miniature wargames or ttrpgs. Im short Aldarra is a great and exiting way to spend an afternoon and is fast paced and engaging enough that even the most easily bored will remain focused.
