Pro Tools backlit keyboard

The keyboard came well packaged, with its own USB-C to USB-C cable. It is fairly lightweight and the backlit keys are a nice touch but not entirely necessary, it just looks good in the dark. As it’s been a long time since I used Pro Tools, I find the keyboard to be a good aid in remembering some of the functions, but I still need to spend more time learning the wealth of functions within Pro Tools to make better use of the keyboard itself. The keys have a nice feel to them, they’re not heavy or raised. Some keyboards have a slight rise on their position or have extendable back feet on the top of the keyboard which gives the keyboard a little extra height, this keyboard does not have that and is quite flat which is taking me a little time to get used to. This keyboard also misses the slight scallop design on the keys, they’re very flat, so it’s easy for your fingers to wander slightly away from their natural keyboard position. Overall it’s a good keyboard and I’m glad I bought it, it’s a little pricey in my opinion but it is help in me to get back into editing in Pro Tools once again, so for me that’s worth the little extra money.

Excellent overall

The Pro Tools keyboard is excellent overall: solid, well built, and very useful. The battery life is impressive, especially when avoiding heavy backlight use. Personally, the keys feel a bit too large and stiffer than Apple’s, sometimes a press doesn’t trigger. It would also be great if future versions offered two shortcut sets depending on the user’s workflow: one for music and one for post production. Personal considerations aside, I really like the keyboard.
