Maybe Not My Style, BUT-
Ever since childhood, I've liked hats. EVEN THOUGH I realize that hat-wearing has become perceived as a little bit archaic or even slightly peculiar. Hat wearing is "out of the mainstream" at the very least, and while people won't necessarily openly insult me, I'll occasionally get a sidewide glance and MAYBE a sarcastic "nice hat" sideswipe. To which I can only reply, "thanks SO MUCH for your input".
OK, while I wouldn't wear a Colonial waistcoat, or low-hanging hip-hop pants, or suspenders, or spats, or an ascot, I reserve the right to wear a HAT, not only as an expression of individual style but also as legitimate seasonal wear for sun & cold protection. My HUGE disadvantage is my 7 7/8 size HEAD which severely limits my choice. Most retailers will only size hats S-M-L-XL, and I've learned from experience that "XL" usually means 7 5/8 size, which for me is just plain TOO SMALL. So it's just a "Magic Moment" when I can actually don a new hat and it actually FITS. Even buying from American Hat Makers, only possibly 50% or less of styles offered are available in my XXL-7 7/8 size, which is frustrating. (I suspect new stock of any style SELLS OUT quickly in my XL+ size, and might never be replenished.)
So, within those limitations, I will occasionally allow myself to buy a style that I might not select otherwise IF this mandatory SIZE requirement can be met, AND if the style isn't excessively outside of my admittedly vague boundaries. The quality of the hats is OUTSTANDING, with real integrity in material & production, along with VERY fastidious packing & SPEEDY fulfillment/ shipment/ delivery. Subject to my unbending size restrictions, I'm always receptive to a new hat, so I'll continue to scan AHM listings, eager to find something EXCELLENT that will actually fit me.
