This was bought as emergency food, but in order to leave a review, we tried some of it. Preparation before eating was minimal, as it might be under survival conditions: Just a little water added to the Mylar bag contents and allowed to soak into the food for a few minutes. The meatloaf was good. Heating in hot water and adding salt and pepper and spices would make it even better. Some companies sell what they call "emergency food", but that doesn't mean you can count on it being fully cooked, and some of it, for example, rice, may not be cooked at all. Most of it is loaded with sodium and the food comes in powder form. Thankfully, that is not the case with Shelf 2 Table.

Green Pepper flavored Meatloaf

Well, the texture was great, but when I ate it, I noticed, what to me, was an unpleasant taste- aftertaste. I looked at the ingrediants list and I spotted my old nemisis, Peppers. I detest peppers immensley and even a small amount renders food with an unpleasant taste. Now, IF you like the taste of (green ) pepprs, this meat loaf would be a great treat on the trail because otherwise, it is well done. Just shows that you need to try trail meals at home. I am not down on the company, just ran across a quirk that you need to be aware of. Thanks, Ed A.

Very tasty

This was a great addition to the menu. Quick easy and tasty. I made meatloaf sandwiches. In hard times tasty food makes all the difference.
