4" Alocasia 'Platinum'

I adore alocasias and had wanted this one for a while. When I say that this specimen is perfection… I was stunned at how perfect it is right outta the box. The most beautiful plant I’ve ever gotten in the mail E V E R.

While a couple leaves seemed to come off due to the cold (the leaves went like grey/brown) I put it in water and it’s already got a new leaf and is doing well. It must’ve been really healthy to have survived that as an Alocasia.

Really disappointed in the plants that were sold to me. One came out of the box looking sad, and fell out of its pot when I took the plastic off. It was clear that a plug had been shoved into a 4 inch pot and sold before allowing it to root any further! I repotted into a smaller pot right away and I’m hoping it will bounce back. I bought two, and the second one had pretty wet soil. I decided to leave it alone, but by the next day it was also completely drooping. Upon inspection I found this was also just a plug shoved into a larger pot. There’s nothing wrong with using plugs, but they should be allowed to fully root before being sold, or not sold as a larger size! I didn’t reach out to customer service about this one because I still have both plants and I’m sure they’ll be fine. Not too upset for buying them discounted, but would absolutely not have paid full price for what I received!
