Iris LM Kit - Low-Profile

Great keyboard! Wish it was row-staggered

This was the most affordable low-profile split keyboard I could find that would fit in the desk space I had available. The build quality is great, assembly was easy (though swapping key caps usually ends with the whole switch pulling out instead), and I was excited to try the different layout for thumbs. From a customer experience standpoint, I would happily order from Keebio again. However, I didn't anticipate that switching to a columnar layout would be such a major transition. It took a week of practice to adjust, and even now after almost a month I'm not as proficient as with a standard keyboard layout. I bought this keyboard to help with shoulder pain since a larger full split keyboard helped me maintain better posture at my work desk, and I wanted something more compact for traveling than an RK S70. I didn't want to return the keyboard because it does help my shoulders when typing for an extended period, but for any "daily driving" it's still faster to use my laptop keyboard given years of muscle memory. I don't love the IRIS-LM stagger, and I wish that I Keebio offered a row-staggered option with the same low-profile keys and overall footprint, especially considering the cost, so that I could recommend it to friends and family.
