Best option so far, if it's really cold...
For me no gloves is the best option, until it gets cold, then painfully cold fingers end my sessions early. I have tried various glove options, all seem to compromise either wing handling, forearm fatigue or both to some extent so it's a case of finding the best balance overall. I like the Ion open palm mitts, warmer than no gloves, arm fatigue not really an issue and you can slip your fingers out to do fiddly jobs easily. The problem is they aren't warm enough when the weather turns really cold, hence trying these. I used them for the first time on Sunday, 3 degrees air temp + wind chill and cold water and was able to sail for as long as I wanted without the painful fingers or debilitating forearm fatigue. They work well to eliminate the cold water flush you get with the open palms and the thicker neoprene is a bit warmer although they aren't exactly toasty, it's still a bit like having your hand in a wet bag. The thin palm material works well to minimise forearm fatigue and is soft enough that the wing handling is still ok. Happy overall, putting them on is a bit of pain and I need to take them off to do fiddly jobs but worth it for a longer session.
