Screw to secure hinge

I bought this screw to replace the one that came with the trimmer. I just bought the trimmer and could not get the original screw for the hinge to turn properly. I started and backed it out about 5 times before just applying more pressure and ended up snapping the head of the screw, leaving the rest of the screw stuck in the hinge. A friend told me he could drill and tap out the screw so I ordered the replacement. He did remove the original screw but said the threads were messed up and he had to rethread the hinge and use a larger screw. So the replacement screw I purchased couldn’t be used so it was a wasted $10 including the $8.00 for shipping. I think there was something wrong with the threads on the inside of one or both parts of the hinge. I mean I have turned numerous screws in my time without issue. Anyway, the screw that I ordered and ended up not using did arrive quick.
