It didn't get all the way down to the rind on top of naval orange, it says to press gently, seems like you would have to press harder and I was too afraid of burning out motor. Peeling and then juicing seems the best to me for amount of juice you get & less mess. I tried juicing mandarin oranges and it just separated them one by one barely juiced them that's when I decided I will just peel them all and juice them. Otherwise the juicer is amazing I have had it for about 2 weeks, use it 3 x's a week for batch juicing, best juicer I have owned yet out the 3.
