Dolby Atmos is worth every penny. I'm refreshing from a very good Pioneer sc1223k after spending a a day with this 3800 I feel like they are very comparable in quality, but the Pioneer was 10 years old and the codecs and specs have changed a lot. So far, I'm using my same 7.1 speakers in exact same configuration and the difference in hearing the sound in Dolby Digital to Dolby Atmos is remarkable. The sound starts to envelop you, no longer sounding like it's coming from 7 points in the room. When I upgrade my speakers and add a couple height speakers to the ceiling I can't imagine how emersive this will be.
