An unusual pigment

Hematite is the name given to a crystalline form of iron oxide (“rust”) that occurs naturally in many rock formations; Jackman’s Hematite Genuine processes this mineral into a dark, reddish-brown pigment in masstone that dilutes to a warm grey. Made with the uncommon PBr29 synthetic pigment, it handles smoothly with gentle granulation at mid-dilution — a natural-looking earth tone that is more controllable than many mineral colours. Interesting for value studies. An unusual single pigment to find in a tube!

Hematite Genuine is my favourite go to. It’s a rich and versatile colour. Ideal for getting that grey brown hue for trees. The way it moves on paper is magical. Can’t recommend this one enough. A must have.
