An excellent overview
For anyone interested in the men who were the backbone of the British and Empire war effort (1939-1945), this is a really useful book. It is well illustrated and has details on uniforms, badges, insignia, weapons, organisation of regiments etc etc As someone with a keen interest in the history of that war, I have often found it frustrating not to know more of the detail mentioned above when studying a particular theatre or campaign especially when the men involved in the fighting were basically taken as a given by some authors - this book, for me, adds to that understanding and is going to be a constant companion when reading accounts of, say, the North Africa campaign.
