Drop in replacement for the pump the fountain came with. There's no way for me to know how much the UVC light sterilizes the water, without sending it to a lab for testing. I assume that it does what it is designed to do. In any case, it's a good extra little bit of safety and sanitation for the cats and is definitely no worse than the plain pump that came with the fountain.
