This means the wider brim comes with it a slightly higher crown. A fedora would have a a lower crown with this same brim. The Lawrence is perfect for my face, slightly round, with a shorter jaw, and a higher forehead (the given gift from my Norwegian, Scot/English ancestors). More importantly, it feels amazing on the head with great protection. I question summer wearability, but for a 3 season hat, if this is your cup of tea (it is mine), you'll smile every time you don it. Incredible value for money. Well made in Ecuador.
