I have been wanting a 5 string fretless U-bass ever since I bought a 4 string acoustic model about 6 years ago. So happy they are available now. I love that most of the models are available with a fretless option. The electric model does not sound quite as good as the acoustic model when plugged into a DI. Nothing that can’t be fixed with preamp/eq pedal. Also requires a tuner, as the acoustic has one built in. The electric does play much easier than my acoustic model. The action is excellent😁

5 String Joy

It’s a challenge and a joy! Fretless and 5-string is different than most basses you’ve played. I still reach for it everyday to just noodle about. I also purchased the flat wound strings which I will use in a year or so from now. If you have any doubt, just buy one of these beautiful U-Basses!

Really cool little bass!

Actually the one I ordered and bought was a fretted five string. That was a couple weeks ago. I have turned it up and played it for maybe a total of half an hour and I am thrilled with the touch and the tone, but the intonation is a little off, so I’ve taken it to a friend of mine who is much more experienced, not to mention bolder than I am when it comes to tweaking truss rods and such. He said he’d have it in perfect shape in a couple days. I’m really looking forward to getting comfortable with it. An amazing bargain. As a matter of fact after I am ready to take it to a gig I May go ahead and order a fretless, as well. Highly recommended.
