Decent Decaf

This fresh medium roast decaf makes a pretty balanced cup, though it feels a bit muted overall. The acidity leans soft and rounded rather than bright. It hits early on the front of the tongue but doesn’t have much sharpness or lift, coming across more like a gentle sourness than a crisp tartness. There’s a noticeable fruit sweetness, especially in the finish. It doesn’t fully come through in the middle of the sip, but it lingers nicely after you swallow. The bitterness is mild but a little herbal—almost like Chinese medicinal herbs—rather than chocolatey or roasted. The body sits around medium and feels slightly dense, which makes the flavors blend together more than stand apart. The finish is clean, with some lingering sweetness and a slight dryness at the back of the tongue. Overall, it’s a solid and balanced decaf, but the flavors feel a bit subdued and less defined than I’d hope for.

Best decaf coffee I've had. None of the stale bitterness that usually defines decaf. Mellow, smooth. Yummy!

Big Shoulders decalf can't be beat.
