Size up unless you like them tighter. I used the size chart as well as the panty size I currently wear in another brand, but similar design and same material. They fit, but tight to where there's a little pudge above and below and after having them on for a bit the sides bunch and doen't stay smooth. I am 5'8", 170 lbs, average build, size 9 pants depending on brand (size 30 wrangler high waist jeans). I bought the large and wish I had bought the XL especially once they are washed and dried. Unfortunately, I bought them on clearance and was not allowed to exchange them.
