Magic
Having no interest in tea or coffee, drinking only water for many decades, it was curious that I found myself in my local health food store buying a packet of what I suppose is fair to call a generic probably mass produced cacao. And nothing wrong with that. Having drank it over some days, I then strangely remembered reading on occasions in the past of so called 'ceremonial' cacao. Was this a gimmick, just another 'thing"? On googling, as we do, I found a website called Mother Earth here in Ireland. So I sent an email asking basically 'what the hell is ceremonial cacao'. In truth I felt it possible that I might receive some marketing nonsense and for me that would the end of that. Instead I received a prompt and comprehensive reply from a man called Garrett who explained all about the cacao that they sold. Its origin and source, the ethics and morality behind it. That it comes from farmers and communities that have farmed the cacao bean for generations, organically, using no pesticides, GMO etc. That the harvesting and processing is for the most part done by hand and that the farmers and communities are paid a fair and honourable price and wage. "Clean" was a word used and this cacao certainly appears to be that way. What to say about cacao? I suppose cacao for me comes under the category of 'when you know you know', when I drink it, I know. There is a physical sensation, a subtle feeling of wellness, including sometimes a type of energetic emotional shift, not always predictable but I'm sure this varies for each person. Perhaps it could be said that there is a type of ineffable quality to it. For transparency, I'm not looking for a hit or a boost off it, have no interest in the the ceremonial side of it, been there and done that stuff, t shirt etc. I simply feel better after drinking it. I make a cup every morning with 20 to 25g of cacao and take some quiet time. That's it. Just the moment as it is.
