FPR Ashoka Fountain Pen

Man do I love this nib

It took some futzing, but I understand that's the deal with ultra flex nibs. I had some initial blorbing. Blorping? Blotching? Anyway, I heat set the nib and now it's not an issue. The pen itself is lovely - a pleasure to look at and hold. I practiced writing Dungeon Crawler Carl quotes using modern calligraphy with it last night and really enjoyed it.

The Most Fun!

So I bought the Ashoka with an ultra flex nib and a Jaipur with a medium nib for use with shimmer and sheening inks. I absolutely destroyed the Ashoka the first night I had it! I was over excited and other than Parker 51s I’m very new to fountain pens. I sent it back and got a perfect replacement! The nib adds an entirely new dimension to my writing and shows off the shimmer like nothing else! I have larger hands and always post my caps for added weight and length. This is the only pen I have that feels comfortable unposted. Drawbacks……. I am a sales manager and frequently use notecards for coaching my team. I wanted to use this pen at work for note cards and at home for poems. It does not travel well at all! Between the ebonite feed and the nib, it leaks badly under the same conditions that my Parker Urbans do not have any issues. Super fun desk pen YES! Travel pen for daily use at work, NOPE! But like with cars, you don’t go off road in a Porsche 911 just like you don’t take an F250 to the race track…… All in all, I’m probably going to buy another one some time to keep at work because it’s a really nice pen with which to write and I can’t say enough about the ultra flex nib, it is the bees knees!

I'm really enjoying writing with the Ashoka model pen, especially after I eyedropper filled it. It's a good pen and nib at a very fair price.
