A beautiful recording. Royce Martin --unknown to me till his mention in a piece by John McWhorter-- is a treasure. His playing is both delicate and powerful, elegiac and danceable. Scott Joplin would be thrilled with Royce's treatment of his work. And Royce's original stuff on the "Deluxe" CD is entirely appropriate and compelling. Thanks to John McWhorter for turning me on to this marvelous collection; if it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me.

Joplin ragtime with modern flavor. GREAT!

Checked this recording out just out of curiosity without high expectations. But it’s really wonderful. Both faithful to the original ABC full of very cool modern explorations.

Why hadn’t I heard of Royce Martin before?

He makes Joplin sound a little less classical and a little more jazz.And, I admire this man’s skill. The album is a pleasure to listen to.
