Classy Canister

Of the many seriously beautiful Japanese craft items, small items veneered in cherry-tree bark fit quite easily and naturally into Japanese aesthetic theory and practice because they do not only resemble the "wabi-sabi" irregularities of nature but also are constructed, taken whole, entirely from the natural world. The brownish-yellow striations of the bark, punctuated with dark brown and black marks, are separated by shiny, velvet-like bands of deep burgundy, and the eye is drawn from dream to dream across the fabric of the tree skin. I bought a tea tin, and it remains only to find the best tea color, flavor, and aroma to complete the feast of the senses that can be held in one hand!
