Great size, shape and texture

I’ve been wanting this type of lacquer placemat for a long time. I love the size and shape as it works well with Japanese and other types of dishes. I also like the carved texture and the fact that it has a reverse side in red. The only disappointment is that the black side isn’t black enough for my taste since the red is showing through, making it more of an espresso brown. My order was carefully packed and arrived quickly and safely.

Beautiful placemat!

These placemats are beautiful and sturdy indeed! I will be using the black side for ordinary days when we want to enjoy a home-cooked Japanese meal. And the red side for every special meal occasion at home. I can see myself passing on these lacquered placemats onto my daughter someday and expect it to be part of our family’s heritage. I am extremely happy with this purchase.
