Easy to.follow instructions. Only negative is yarn sheds a lot

Great project!

I do loads of crafts: there are workshops all over the metro area where I live, and I buy kits online. Now, I have experience making a variety of things, but I’ll admit to getting lost in some companies’s directions when I’m tackling something I’ve never made before. Very frustrating! I do best if I can see it being done and then I do it and then the instructor confirms I’m doing it right. That latter piece is not possible with an online kit, of course. But I gotta say the video instructions that came with this kit were superb!! An ordinary voice with ordinary hands (I’ve gotten distracted when the video hands are wearing glittery jewelry or shiny glossy nail polish) patiently showing me how to weave this basket, and loaded with those extra little tips that prevent frustration, such as how to manage the yarn ends. If I get confused, I can go back, pause it, compare my hand and yarn movements, self-check, and keep going. The full video is there, so even when it’s been sped up during the long parts, I can still see each step. While the written instructions were detailed and had lots of photos, I still got confused at the end, but again, the video saved me! I also emailed to ask if the video would still be available, so maybe in a month or two, I can buy the same yarn and make another bowl. The person who replied had a kind tone and reassured me I can watch the video as needed. This was my first kit from Flax & Twine, and I am so pleased! I had purchased 2 more kits at the same time as this one, so I am relieved that I will be in good hands when I start work on them.

A fun new craft

I’ve always admired hand woven baskets. I’m about 1/2 way through this project and I’m enjoying the process. And it actually looks like the finished project. Can’t wait to start another
