difficult first-time setup

The Lake was difficult to set up out of the box. Available materials from ORU do not all match the item as shipped (?did Oru modify the design of the Lake after they printed their assembly instructions and made their assembly video?). Once assembled - presuming I did it correctly - the Lake maiden voyage was a success: easy to paddle in calm water, and super-easy to pack up into the car when finished.

Absolutely perfect for hikers, not so great with any heavy waters, but perfect for lakes

I've been looking at them for a couple of years, but I was kind of skeptical. I must say I was blown away. It takes a second to get used to assembling, but it isn't that hard, just a learning curve. It was incredibly stable. I didn't feel ever that I was going to tip - even when getting in and out of it. The paddle was adjustable in length AND paddle blade angle. Plus, I have never had a paddle with so little splash. The water didn't run down the blade, constantly dripping on you. I got out virtually bone dry. Their personal flotation device fit securely. It didn't ride up or cause chaffing during rowing. Fortunately, the waterproof bag was waterproof as I *might* have dropped it in the water getting out. It was a bit harder to use my phone, but I was still able to get good pictures and update people on my progress.
