Love the Duc de Santal scent. The aftershave balm works very well at soothing irritation. The brush is good for creating lather and application with no problems of shedding bristles. I have only ever used spray can foam and gel and I am sure that with practice anyone will be able to produce lather that is comparable or better to those products.
