I bought a vintage Yamaha XT 200 which ran badly with carb problems. An overhaul kit and even a ‘new’ carb from eBay didn’t improve matters. Someone suggested fitting a Nibbi carb. At half the price of a secondhand ‘original’ carb, I was doubtful about this but I took a punt and got one anyway. Things were delayed while I ordered a new throttle cable to suit, but when I got it fitted it started first kick and has done so ever since. I’ve had to adjust the idle speed and tweak the idle air mixture, but this was very simple, and the bike runs like a champ. More power, more torque, no flat spots, picks up beautifully from idle. Also beautifully made, a little jewel of a mechanism. I’m delighted with it, as it feels like a new bike. Would recommend the carb without reservation. The cable recommended is far too short so I have had to route it with many sharp bends, and the free length too long, with tons of slack at the grip. Although the bike is working I know the cable won’t last long like this. The alternative Nibbi have recommended doesn’t have the right dimensions either, so I think I will have to make a cable up myself. Replies to questions have been very abrupt and not very informative (are they using AI?) so I’m not 100% happy with the customer service, but the carb itself is a winner.
