Unication UHF Replacement antenna (green) 450-512mhz

Thought it would perform better on the UHF band then it does. It receives UHF signals marginally better than the stock 763-870mhz antenna.

Defective?

I received it pretty quickly after ordering but when I hooked it up to the scanner I wasn't getting any antenna bars. I put the old antenna back on and i was got full bars.
