VelvaLok - Velvet Antler Preservative

Not sure what happened but horns smell. I cut horns off within 24 hrs and froze right away. Is it possible that the horns weren't leaning enough when I sprayed velv. Flies sure do like the horn leaving larvae behind. I might has lost the battle to preserve the antlers.
