Great option for filtering water when travelling

I rely on Lifestraw products around home and when I travel because of their effectiveness in filtering out even the smallest bacteria. This filter system is also really compact for packing so it’s a very helpful addition to Lifestraw options. I should also mention that the first one I bought had a terrible chemical smell but I was easily able to return it for a new one that has no odours, as it should be. Thanks to the very helpful customer service team.

Not being used.

I do not plan to use this anytime soon. I have it put away with my earthquake supplies. Which brings me to the question I was going to ask: In the instructions it describes how to store the filter in salt water. My question is, it it's never been used is it ok to store it in brand new condition? I have mine sealed in a plastic bag. This is a vacuum seal type bag but not under any kind of vacuum to speak of. Just well sealed.
