I have only ordered samples, I have not installed a full floor...yet. I wanted to comment on my impression of the sample I received, and why I will be using the SuperCore flooring throughout the house. I am a pet owner, I need accident resistent flooring, I also am looking for flooring I can use throughout a new build, so material and installation cost is also a priority. My current home has traditional red oak flooring stained in Minwax Jacobean with a good quality polyurethane overcoat. It has been pretty good for our needs,but the install cost on top of the material cost was a point of hesitation for choosing this in the next home. I have used supposed water resistant laminate products in the past but had issues with swelling in the seams when a missed wet accident sat for any amount of time, not going there again, so I was hesistant for a plank install product as well. I ordered this sample due to the promise of true waterproof integrity. Well I tested that, I soaked samples in a pan of water for 48 hours, they came out unaltered, no delamination, no discoloration, no swelling, the pieces snapped together just as they had prior to my meddling. I plan to further research underlayment options to protect the subfloor but have decided this is the finish flooring I have been looking for. I found that the narrower, traditions planks have a look most resembling the strip flooring I have currently, also the gunstock oak sample was the closest of those I tried to a Minwax Jacobean stain over red oak. It is a medium to deep tone brown with gold undertone, no red. The samples were sent to me free with multiple pieces of each color so you can see how it looks snapped in place, I really appreciated that. If you are at all curious about a hardwood alternative order some samples of the SuperCore and see for yourself, I think you will be well pleased.
