The coloring book and Sorry Monster were the standouts, and my nine-year-old loved the illustrations. Sorry Monster delivers a helpful message about confidence and not shrinking yourself or apologizing just to keep the peace. Unfortunately, the other two books missed the mark. They carry a heavy tone focused on how difficult situations weigh you down, which can unintentionally create shame for children who feel trapped in hard circumstances. For children of parents in high-conflict relationships, this is not something they can simply escape. The advanced vocabulary also feels unsuited to younger children, while the themes are too heavy-handed for older kids. What I’d really look for in books like these is encouragement around kindness, healthy relationships, self-worth, and permission to have needs and express them. One of my all-time favorites is Oh, the Places You’ll Go! by Dr. Seuss.

I like these books. "The light" caught the children's attention the most but we will regularly read all of them as a reminder. Thank you.

Disappointed in these books especially for a 3 yr old. Will save for later, maybe.
