A banged up knee could make a trip in the mountains a miserable experience. A little insurance never hurts. Once you dump the weight, the ability to crawl comfortably is worth every penny.

These knee pads are great. Need to make the knee pad pockets on the De Havilland Lite pants smaller though. It would really optimize the fit. Also would be a neat addition if there was an adjustment to the height. I had to sew a seam to hold the pads up at the top portion of the pocket to actually align with my knees.
