Scope is great, camera OK

I have worked in the clinical laboratory for over 40 years. I have purchased microscopes from the big 4 and was very spoiled with the microscopes I've used. I've since retired and was looking for a scope I could share with my sons and grandkids. I was very hesitant about buying this scope, because frankly some of the microscopes I've selected for the lab were in excess of $13,000 and I was not sure what I was getting into. I've never heard of AmScope. What I received was a pleasant surprise. PROS 1. The base and body were heavily constructed out of metal and it seems to have good construction. The stage and condensor works well. 2. The eyepieces move well and are very easy to adjust. 3. Light seems to be fair. It could be brighter, but then I guess I had the option of upgrading to a LED or 30W. CONS 1. The camera is only fair. Slow frame rate, and the software seems to be a scaled down version of the other software from AmScope. This camera only works with the software that comes with it, and I could not find a download for it. It seems kind of light, but it works.

Bitter Sweet

Purchase a new equipment, but it was clearly an open box most probably an used device, that is too heavy and too big to go through the hassle to return it, but the microscope works, the camera comes with a CD for the software, adding one more step to figure out what software to download...I'm passionate about it... for the price I think is well worth it... but they could and should have done a lot better. Just that old way of treating your customer with honesty and transparency, as you would like to be treated. they sell open boxes on discounted price...why doing this? the part were buried in the Styrofoam, I now need to test it all, because my trust went way...
