The Design Needs Some Work
For something that costs nearly $300, I expected better. The AIO box itself is too narrow and leaves about 3/4 inch of wiggle room on the sides once it's in the tank. So I had to wedge some foam in between the glass and the box before applying silicone. Apparently I didn't do a good enough silicone job because water got in from around the side and is now just sitting behind/under the filter box. I don't know if that will become an issue or not. I should've just put silicone on the bottom of the box and allowed water to flow around the sides. Also, silicone isn't included, so you have to go buy you own. Silicone is required, otherwise, the box will not stay in place. The filter sock chamber design is really bad. It hangs from an edge of the AIO box, but isn't snug or sized correctly to catch all of the incoming water. Water can easily go around the filter sock chamber once it comes through the overflow slots. So I don't use the sock attachment at all. I bought some filter sponge and shoved that in the first compartment instead. The media basket thingy seems to be okay once you have it assembled. It's a pain to peel off all of the protective paper though. Took me 20 minutes just to get the paper off all the pieces (no easy-peel tabs, so it helps to have fingernails). But the basket has decent room for filter media, so that's a plus. The pump seems to work pretty well. It's quiet and easy to set up. The return nozzles are just okay. I like that it's a dual-head nozzle that can be adjusted, but the flow seems to be very concentrated in two spots by the jet-style nozzles. I think flat nozzles might be better for flow distribution, but maybe I'm wrong. Overall, I do think the Pro Series is probably better than the regular, but I don't think it's worth an extra $140.
