18” Auger Bit Poor Quality

The 18” Auger Bit as shipped was extraordinarily dull. I only needed the bit to bore just 8 holes into soft maple wood. On the first hole the bit tore the wood fibers instead of cleaning cutting them. By the second hole the bit was so dull that it bogged down/stalled the drill. It was impossible to use the bit for any more work until I spent extra money, and time, to take the bit to a sharpening service to have it correctly sharpened. In an ideal world I would have returned the bit to Ultrashelf and gotten my money back. But I needed to get the job done pronto and thus took the hit to my wallet in order to get the job done on schedule. Very disappointed.

Good Bit

This is a Spyder auger bit. Pretty good quality, does the job with the additional jig to get the holes aligned correctly.
