lovely frustration

the pattern is clear, the duet is lovely, but getting this well-tensioned on a rigid heddle is tough. second time weaving (this time with 5+ years of 2 and 4 shaft weaving experience), and i'm still having the same tension issues. would it be easier on a 4 shaft? and there's no way i can get 10 ppi. lastly, i barely finished the first 33 reps of the lace when i ran out of the main color?? a video would be nice, so i can see that it's possible.
