Slate oil

We did a deck with this color .stirred correctly we did a 12x10 deck . Whole thing was slate gray when we left . 24 hrs later client sends me pic of a 10 ft section of rail completely blank . The other side gray the whole thing still gray . Very confused this job is 1.5 hrs away so I don’t think I will buy this color again
