Animal Farm by George Orwell - Artist Edition

Probably the prettiest version of Animal Farm I've ever seen

I love the binding, the luxurious paper, the gorgeous illustrations, the incredibly sturdy slipcase. This one is a total home run.

A Pertinent Tale

The first thing to say about this book is that it feels good to hold. It has a satisfying heft to it; everything about it is robust (it feels as sturdy a construction as the windmill on the farm, and I can almost see Boxer laboriously hauling all the book's materials to the Suntup press): The slip case feels impervious to any form of abuse (I've never seen/felt a slip case as solid seeming); likewise the pages and endsheets. The artwork, particularly the wraparound dust jacket, is simply sumptuous ( the pigs look particularly malevolent throughout), and artist Omar Rayyan's signature is almost a work of art in itself. Sadly, Orwell's tale remains as cautionary today as ever.

Animal Farm Artist Edition

The Artist Edition illustrations by Omar Rayyan are beautifully done bursting with lively colours and dramatic character renderings. The bonus content is interesting with Orwell's alternate prefaces and a wonderful photo of the author feeding a raucous pet goat!! The book itself is timeless and a classic allegory of social political ideology that is as relevant today as it was during Orwell's era.
