Don't 'Sleep' On This Edition
Well, if you're even the slightest bit familiar with Tony's amazing vision expressed in the form of fine press editions, then you know CTP's books are some of THE best in the business. And while Rip Van Winkle is a short story and thus a smaller book, in terms of quality and design it is no different than the larger novels released by Conversation Tree. Tony's thoughtfulness and attention to detail shine through once again. The materials and printing method chosen for Rip Van Winkle, as well as the hand-made slipcase, are top-notch. Let's face it, Ludlow never fails to amaze in this regard. More amazing though, on this particular edition, are the colors on the hand-marbled paper and quarter goatskin leather. I am blown away. I could look at the cover for hours and be content. The pictures do NOT do it justice, I'm afraid. You can, of course, see all the specs in the description and in the photos, and it is obvious that all of the design choices work together very well. I would be remiss if I didn't make mention of Peter Meseldžija's artwork. I am not familiar with Peter, but Tony choosing him for this title was perfect, in my opinion. I LOVE the artwork. The added bonus of having a separate art portfolio, which nestles comfortably beside the book in the slipcase, is even better. It's the little things like that which make an edition really special. To sum up, I'm quite pleased with this title and anxiously waiting in anticipation of the next one to be released. As always, thank you CTP!
