So good
I only bought a sample, so can't comment on price. Ink is a very dark purple. It looks black when dry. The gold sparkles are noticeable on every stroke but does not clog my medium nib TWSBI ECO. It works well on cheap paper - i.e. low to very low feathering. It feels slick when you write, almost like an oil. It is an excellent ink and I plan on buying a bottle as soon as I can get it by the wife.

Subtle in writing; lovely metallic in swatches
I don't really use black ink, since discovering the wonderful world of fountain pens. It's far too utilitarian, basic, and thus (for me) depressing. But this hue is technically a crazily deep brown tone, which makes it warm at its base. And the red and gold shimmer is such an arresting combo (especially in large swatches) that I felt confident I'd enjoy it. And I do! It writes beautifully- for something so particulate-rich, whose label includes a warning to clean the ink from your pen often (read: it likely stains), it didn't clog my Creaper in the slightest. The experience of writing with this ink was smooth as silk. Note: I got this (as most of my inks) as a sample. And when you get a shimmer ink sample, you never know if the sample is reflective of how much shimmer you'd get in a bottle. It all comes down to how well the seller agitated the bottle before they divided it into sample containers. So with all shimmers, but especially this one, your results may vary. The attached photos were swatched on Clairefontaine 90gsm paper and written on Yamamoto Cosmo Air Light 75gsm paper, using a Noodler's Creaper fountain pen with a steel flex nib.

Jacques Herbin Shogun Ink
I really, really like this ink. The flow is great, the shimmer stays in suspension better than most. Best of all - after it has dried the shimmer doesn’t just rub off as with many shimmers so it’s fine for addressing envelopes. Also, and this is just my veiw, the shimmer doesn’t take over and look “cheap” - it just accents the writing.
