A bit too heavy for me
I returned it because I over estimated my ability to lift a 65lb chair into my van. The self closing is a nice feature but I was concerned about explaining to an airline gate attendant the process of removing the battery, but leaving the power cable attached so the chair can be closed while under power, You can not open or close the chair without power and you can not remove the battery from the closed position and airline regulations require removal of the battery. I am 100% dependent on the chair so I would not be able to do this procedure independently. This chair does come with the manual option, which is what ordered but it was back ordered with no date when it would be available so they up-graded me to the auto fold at no additional cost. I think it added 2 or 3#'s to the overall weight of the chair I really thought the chair was constructed well and appreciated the quality of the upholstery used for the seat cushion and back. The controls were responsive and intuitive. I liked that it came with the side zippered storage bags under each arm rest and a Velcro storage pocket on the back of the chair. The zippered storage bag under the seat was also nice. A great place to keep your charger and included tool kit or a light jacket neatly folded up. I was not able to test it outside due to the restrictions of the 7 day free trial but I was able to test its maneuverability inside my home which was pretty good. The foot print is not much bigger than my manual chair. One note - the front caster wheels are mounted around 1.5 to 2 inches off the frame so I had to be careful to not run them into walls and cabinets. Not a big deal, just different then what I am used to from my manual chair. I liked that the foot rest folds up. This is crucial for a smooth and safe transfer and once in the chair it was easy to fold down. The seat is a few inches higher than my manual chair making it difficult if not impossible for me to pick items off the floor. This would be an issue if I was to use this as my everyday chair. As it is I am purchasing an electric chair for use on long outings and air travel where manually rolling for miles is getting to be too much for me to manage and still enjoy myself. All in all a great chair. If you get this chair you may want to ensure you have an abled body person that can use their legs to lift it into and out of your trunk. If you plan to do a lot of solo air travel you may also want to consider forgoing the Auto open option.
