Last Years of the Class 50s 1980 - 1994

A rail trip down memory lane.

My early memories of the Class50 date back to 1974 when they were brought in to replace the Class 52 ‘western’ loco’s. My nan and grandad had a house in southcote Reading and at the bottom of the garden was Southcote junction. I spent many happy hours watching these impressive engines. I was later thrilled in the early 80’s when the 50’s replaced the class 33 on the line where I lived. It was Worting Junction near Basingstoke. This book has brought back very fond memories.
